Two years ago in January, I found out I was pregnant with baby #4! I had my 8 week ultrasound in March. I remember voicing my concern that this baby would have ADHD. I said I could take anything except another child with ADHD (HA!) Well, I should have kept my mouth shut!!!
Fast forward to April 1, 2006. Michael calls his mom, dad and grandmother to play an April Fool's joke on them. Michael is the perpetual child when it comes to joke's. He even brought some Harry Potter's Every Flavor Jelly Beans to work in an unmarked container to hand out to co-workers.
Michael: "Hey Mom, We just found out Debra is carrying twins. -Moment of Silence- Just kidding APRIL FOOL'S!)
Fast Forward to April 4th.
I went to the ER because I was spotting. The U/S tech was looking for a heartbeat. She found twins. My husband's eyes because very BIG. All you could see were the whites! I sat up so fast I almost fell off the bed! I asked for a second opinion. :-) I was SPEECHLESS. The Lord knows how to get a good laugh, for sure! Me, with 5 kids! Michael wanted me to go call my mom, but I was in such shock that he ended up calling everyone.
My mom's response was "I guess you need to stop trying to have an even number of kids!" She was SO happy.
The hardest part? Trying to convince HIS family we were REALLY pregnant with twins. FInally ONE of his jokes bit him in the butt!
Then came the Dr.... I have good news and bad news. The good news is you are having twins. The bad news is there is no membrane separating them. They only have a 50% chance of survival. You need to follow up with your OB tomorrow. As he was walking away, he said "at least you look like you can afford twins." WTH kind of comment was that? I was still in such shock that it did not even bother me though.
Wow... twins.
Needless to say, we do not play April Fool's Day jokes on anyone anymore!
Welcome to our family blog! I have been blogging about our family since 2006 to preserve our family history.

“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved? . . . “Get a notebook, . . . a journal that will last through all time, and maybe the angels may quote from it for eternity. Begin today and write in it your goings and comings, your deepest thoughts, your achievements and your failures, your associations and your triumphs, your impressions and your testimonies” President Kimball
